How to Clean Your LEGO® Bricks
Separate and Prep:
Separate all the LEGO pieces, ensuring each one is taken apart for a thorough cleaning. If you have a large batch, save time by placing them in a mesh bag. Avoid using the washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, or hairdryer, as extreme temperatures can deform the bricks.
Soapy Soak:
Place the separated bricks in a container, sink, or bathtub with hot water. Add your regular mild detergent or dish soap, making sure the water doesn't exceed 40°C (104°F). Gently shake the bricks with your hand, allowing them to soak for at least ten minutes. If the water becomes cloudy, replace it with fresh soapy water and let the bricks soak for a full hour or overnight if needed.
Disinfect:
For an extra layer of cleanliness, add ¼ cup of white vinegar to each cup of hot container water. This step helps disinfect the bricks.
Rinse Thoroughly:
After soaking, rinse the LEGO bricks under cold water using a sieve or colander to remove soap and loosened dirt. Ensure a thorough rinse to leave the bricks sparkling clean.
Drying Process:
To dry the bricks, place them in a single layer on a towel with the right side up, allowing water to run off the underside. You can speed up the drying process by using a fan or spinning the bricks in a salad spinner to remove excess water.
